City of Thomson : Mayor

Mayor's Welcome

Welcome to the city of Thomson's electronic front door. I am Mayor Kenneth Usry, and we are pleased to offer this website portal to all of our citizens and visitors. Please contact us if you need additional information. You may reach the City's administrative offices at (706) 595-1781.

We welcome the opportunity to show you what a great community we have. Our roots go back to Colonial Georgia, a past that gives our citizenry a sound set of values. Rolling hills filled with farms, homes and historic sites reflect the different periods of settlement.

Come enjoy our heritage as you browse the McDuffie Museum or visit the: Rock House, which was part of a 1768 Quaker settlement; the Bowden-Johnson House built in 1860; or Hickory Hill, home of U.S. Senator Thomas E. Watson.

Churches of several denominations play a prominent role in defining our community's values. Our size makes it easy to know your neighbors and makes Thomson a great place in which to live, work and raise a family. Clarks Hill Lake, golf courses, recreational facilities, and an interstate highway add to the area's amenities.

Our governments have a history of cooperating with one another to provide a climate in which business and industry can locate and thrive. We have well-planned infrastructure strategically positioned to accommodate growth, and we always welcome the opportunity to work with a new business or industry.

Our governmental services include state-of-the-art airport, hospital, library and utility systems. We look forward to having you visit and become a member of our community.

Kenneth Usry
Mayor
