At the turn of the 21st century, Thomson-McDuffie County examined how best to manage the efforts of various local organizations involved with the business of economic development. This resulted in the formation of Forward McDuffie.
Forward McDuffie is a management group that consists of the Mayor, Chairman of the County Commission and the Chairs of the Industrial Development Authority, the Downtown Development Authority, Chamber of Commerce and the Tourism/CVB organization.
The staffs of these various groups, led by an Executive Director, are located in the Depot in downtown Thomson.
Whether it’s a Chamber concert, a USSA World Series Softball Tournament, a prospect looking to locate here or just about any economic development activity, you won’t have to look too hard to see the Forward McDuffie folks involved in some supportive way.
We work together to make Thomson as vibrant and as out front as a progressive Southern small town can be.
