The fire service of today is much different than the fire service of the past. We no longer know the clatter of hoof beats down cobble streets as a steam-powered fire engine, with a trusted Dalmation running along side, races to a call. Nor do we see firefighters, wearing only coats and helmets and using rustic wooden ladders, climb out of smoke-filled windows. These images symbolize the fire service of bygone days, and though the tools and methods have changed, there is one practice that will always remain:
If you call, we will come.
The City of Thomson Fire Department serves our community with the same unwavering pride as the firefighters of the past. Firefighters today are required to respond to many different types of emergencies. That's one of the reasons the Thomson Fire Department prides itself on its training. It is dedicated to providing the best possible service for citizens.
The men and women of the department work diligently as a team to ensure your safety. They literally put themselves in harm's way to protect you and others. Please stop by and visit any one of our stations and get to know these fine people.
