The McDuffie County Magistrate Court Office responsibilities include:

  • Management of civil court cases including:
    • Claims
    • Garnishments
    • Personal Property Foreclosures
    • Dispossessories
    • Abandoned Motor Vehicles
  • Issuance of Criminal Warrants and Search Warrants
  • First Appearance Hearings
  • County Ordinance Violations and Disorderly Conduct Hearings

Magistrate Court may handle cases for claims up to $15,000. The case may be filed with or without an attorney and is heard and decided by a Magistrate Judge without a jury. Civil cases may be filed in person or by mail.   Civil cases may also be electronically filed at the following website: www.ez-filing.net
