Senior Citizens Center

McDuffie County Leisure Service began in 1977, as the McDuffie County Council On Aging, Inc. as a nutrition site in the Community Room of the Housing Authority and later moved to the old Coca-Cola Bottling Plant and was commonly known as the Senior Citizens Center.

McDuffie County Senior Citizens Center has many ways for independent adults, 55 and older, to stay active and healthy. Whether you are working, semi-retired, or fully retired, our senior center offers many programs, activities, classes, and events for you to choose from and provide a safe and caring environment where people can make new friends, enjoy old friends, and share happy moments as well as stressful concerns with their peers is encouraged.

In addition, Monday through Friday each week they are served a hot meal in a congregate setting and hot meals are also delivered to those who are homebound. A variety of recreational activities are provided throughout the year as well as is counseling to individuals and families as needed and assistance with filing of insurances and taxes as needed. Throughout the year knowledgeable speakers are brought in to keep our participants informed in areas that may concern them. We also offer both day and extended trips on a regular basis.

Senior Center Programs:

  • Meals on Wheels – Nutrition services prepared and served to the 60 & older. Lunch served Monday – Friday at the Senior Center except holidays Homebound meals are delivered Monday – Friday except holidays Those wishing to qualify for the program should contact the Center and fill out a membership form.
  • Bingo – Monday, Wednesday, & Friday 10:00 am-11:00 am
  • Exercise – Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, 9:30-10:30, Certified Instructor
  • Line Dancing – (Advance Class) Monday, 12:30-2:00 (Beginner Class) Monday, 2:00-2:30
  • Blood Pressure Check Wednesday, 9:30 a.m.-10:00
  • Movie Day – 1st Tuesday 12:30
  • Ceramics – Monday - Friday, 9:30-3:30
  • Craft/Jewelry Class – Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 9:30-2:30
  • Choir Rehearsal – Friday, 1:00-2:00
  • Computer Classes –Tuesday & Thursday 9:30 - 12:30
  • Exercise Equipment/Table Games Monday-Friday, 9:00-4:00
