As a cost-saving measure, the city of Thomson and McDuffie County combine as many duplicated services as possible.
One of the first of these joint operations was the Information Technology Department. This department provides computer services to city and county departments. The operating costs of this department are split evenly between the city of Thomson and McDuffie County.
