McDuffie Museum

The McDuffie Museum is a museum for all, not just a few.

With the passing of each generation, fragments of our heritage are lost. To that end and through the generosity of donors, foundations and Board members, the McDuffie Museum opened its doors in January of 2009 at 121 Main Street, the site of the old Sun Trust Bank.

The Museum’s programs, exhibits and activities enable members and visitors to relive history, become inspired and create a connection with the past. The mission of the Museum is to instill in the citizens of McDuffie County, especially its youth, an understanding of their heritage and a sense of pride in the history of their community.

The McDuffie Museum offers excellent educational and interpretive programs, advances and promotes public knowledge and appreciation of McDuffie County’s heritage and the importance of a local history museum in general. The Museum Boards and staff feel it is important to create a communication and collaboration effort with other communities and statewide organizations to fundamentally preserve and provide access to historical collections. Through this teamwork, the McDuffie Museum can ensure that the preservation of local history reflects the ethnic and cultural diversity of McDuffie County and the surrounding communities.
